Birlingham Photography Club Competition Results

Birlingham Photography Club (BPC) held its first photography competition on 6th December at Birlingham Village Hall. About half of the 40 strong membership submitting photos from a wide range of subject matter. Each Member voted for the three images they liked the best and prizes were awarded to those that won most votes.

Pershore based photographer, Peter Allies was the outright winner with a magnificent seascape, stunningly moody and capturing the magnitude and visual relationship between sky and sea. Runners up were Colin Levy, with a winter-crisp image of snow capped mountains reflected in the stillness of a sunlit lake and close on Colin’s heels was Ray Phillips, who created a delightful autumn scene, an image that many felt they could step right into.

Angela Fitch, BPC’s organiser, said:
I’m delighted that so many people rose to the challenge. People lead busy lives and to squeeze the competition into busy diaries shows how supportive the Members are. BPC aims to bring local photographers together to both learn and be inspired to explore interesting and innovative ideas in photography and to gain support from peers and specialist guest speakers alike.”

The January 3rd meeting includes a presentation by James Greenoff, a Worcestershire-based professional photographer, who will talk about the techniques needed to spot the most exciting photo opportunities and how to capture a great photograph.

BPC meets monthly on the first Tuesday at Birlingham Village Hall, 7pm – 8.30pm. The Club is open to anyone and costs just £3 per meeting. For more information email birlinghamphoto@btinternet.com or phone 07585 904636.
